About This Item
Berkeley, California and London: Scolar Press, 1985. Hardcover. Near Fine. 5 7/8 x 8 3/4. 2H. Full cloth-covered boards. While this title is widely available in cheap facsimile reprints of the original edition, this book is the Scolar Press edition with intro and notes by Ralph Pomeroy; the text has been re-set (it is not a facsimile); it is indexed and includes seven postscripts to early editions, and "two appendices that contain specific passages to which Whately's essay refers." The book is attractively bound in real cloth; the cloth and gilt titles are unfaded. The binding is tight, with good hinges. No marks to text. Small smudge top page-edge. No dustjacket, but the flaps are laid in.
