Limited edition of Ernst's frottage drawings, with 52 plates omitted from the 1926 edition along with the original 34 plates, texts by Eluard, Arp, and Ernst's own "Leitfaden," in a sturdy library binding with the original lithographed cover bound in. 13.5'' X 11''. Contemporary (1968) half black leather with black cloth. Gilt-stamped spine. All edges speckled in red. Edition of 700 copies, of which this is no. 238. Illustrated with 86 offset-printed reproductions and 32 color plates. Original cover lithograph printed by Mourlot present, bound in. Text in French and German. 167, [3] pages. Formerly the property of the City of Liverpool Public Libraries, with their bookplates to front and rear paste-downs and small stamp on page facing table of contents. Hinges reinforced. Light edgewear. Moderate chipping to spine ends.
