New York: Edward J. Clode, 1916. Presumed first U.S. edition, with no additional printing information. An American rancher is sentenced to death in a Latin American country. Just before his execution he is asked to marry a veiled woman. His stay enables their escape, they are shipwrecked with her sister (although he doesn't know which is really his wife) and the adventure continues. Red boards with gold imprint rubbed with fraying at the edges, beverage ring on the front. Hinges cracked with the rear end paper detached and laid in. Previous owner's bookplate on the front pastedown.. Hard Cover. Fair/No Jacket.
