Short tear to head of spine (at top edge, with tape repair); lacks small part of lower right corner of upper wrapper; slight soiling and rubbing to wrappers; previous owner's rubberstamp on first preliminary page; slight internal browning to edges. 279, [1] pages. 'Copyright Edition' (title page recto) of the author's first book; short fantasy novel, set for the most part in London. Originally published in Great Britain in 1930 (and in the US in 1935). Scarce in any edition and/or condition.
