The revised fourth edition of this uncommon work.Illustrated with thirty-one sets of plates and vignette illustrations, alongside nine colour and chromolithographic plates of wallpaper patterns. Collated, complete.With the 1889 inscription of C. Leigh-Smith to the half title.With twenty-four pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear, dated April 1883.A wonderful guide to ideal home decor, furniture design and upholstery in the late nineteenth century, with sections devoted to individual rooms, and also to crockery, clothing and jewellery, plates, and cutlery. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Boards bright, with back strip lightly age toned. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with small marks to back strip tail. Front joint starting, but firmly held. Rear hinge strained but firmly held. Internally, generally firmly bound, but with two chromolithographs detached and loosely inserted. Inscription to half title. Pages bright and generally clean, with the odd handling mark. Good
