Dust-jacket protected in archival mylar cover.; This copy signed by Edmund Hillary and Peter Hillary on the title page (the author's husband and son). "Ed Hillary" signature in black ink and "Peter Hillary" signature in blue ink. 192 pages + 29 black and white illustrations on 8 plate leaves + 11 colour illustrations on 4 plate leaves. Maps on endpapers. Blue boards with gilt lettering on spine. Page dimensions: 234 x 153mm. "The aim of our journey was to visit and work on various Hillary Aid projects in the Everest region of the Himalayas. Due to the Pakistan / Indian war of December 1971 there were delays, complications and adventures before we finally reached Nepal, two weeks late in starting on our busy programme. We walked and floated on air mattresses down sixty miles of the swift Sun Kosi river, east of Kathmandu, and then travelled north-east across high ridges that Ed and our Sherpas had never visited before - and discovered many Sherpa villages we didn't know existed." - from dust-jacket blurb. .
