The first edition of this scarce work.The debut poetry collection of poetry from American novelist, poet, and short-story writer Maxwell Struthers Burt.With the inscription of American professor, poet, and politician Odell Shepard, dated 1914, to the front pastedown. Shepard was the 86th Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut, and won a Pulitzer Prize in 1938 for his biography of Bronson Alcott, the father of writer Louisa May Alcott. In the publisher's original cloth backed paper covered boards. Externally, excellent. Boards a touch age toned to perimeters. Inscription to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
