Dark brown cloth with spine and front cover ornately stamped in silver and gold. 527 pps. with extensive appendix by Pearce Giles, a member of the Second Glazier Expedition, defending the claim as to what was the true headwater of the Mississippi River. Illustrated with over 50 drawings and photo plates. A tight, near fine example, hinges firm; gilt still clear and silver stamping on front cover bright. Very minor wear at spine extremities and one tip.
