About This Item

New York: Summit Books, 1988. First Printing. Hardcover. Good/fair. 233 pages. Index, DJ somewhat worn and soiled: small edge tears/chips, some weakness to rear board. Signed by the author. On the title page it is signed Best Wishes Chris Matthews. There is an additional inscription "To my good friend Jon Fox. This acclaimed book may give you an insight of 'the game' John Heyman. We had other information informing us that this Jon Fox was in fact Jon D. Fox, who was elected to Congress in 1994 as part of the then called "Republican Revolution." He held the seat for two terms. We believe that the John Heyman who inscribed the book to Congressman Fox was the same Jon Heyman (born February 7, 1961 in Santa Fe, New Mexico) who is an insider for MLB Network and regularly contributes to WFAN and Entercom Radio. He writes primarily about baseball. Heyman is also a baseball insider for WFAN Radio in New York. Christopher John Matthews (born December 17, 1945) is a former American political commentator, retired talk show host, and author. Matthews hosted his weeknight hour-long talk show, Hardball with Chris Matthews, on America's Talking and later on MSNBC, from 1997 until March 2, 2020. Matthews served on the staffs of four Democratic Members of Congress, including Senators Frank Moss and Edmund Muskie. Matthews was a presidential speechwriter during the Carter Administration, and later worked for six years as Chief of Staff to longtime Speaker of the House of Representatives Tip O'Neill, playing a direct role in many key political battles with the Reagan Administration. Chris Matthews has spent a quarter century on the playing field of American politics - from right-hand man of.Tip O'Neill to host of NBC's highest rated cable talk show Hardball. In this political classic, he offers fascinating new stories of raw ambition, brutal rivalry, and exquisite seduction and reveals the inside rules that govern the game of power.
