The first edition of these volumes, published in 1911, 1912, and 1914. Complete in three volumes, the exciting trilogy forming the autobiographical work by George Moore, often regarded as the first great modern Irish novelists. Hail and Farewell is a discursive and affectionate documentation of the author's experiences in Ireland, which reads like a monologue that simultaneously conceals some self revelation and reports a witty gallery of acquaintance such as Yeats, AE, and Lady Gregory. Written with humour and elegance.An entertaining read, Ave, Salve, and Vale, has been selected by scholars as an important work. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally lovely with only minor shelfwear. Inscribed by a previous owner to the title page to each volume except Ave, which is inscribed to the half title page. Internally, firmly bound. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are generally clean throughout, with some light inor spotting affecting the first and last few leaves and fore edge. Very Good Indeed
