Sydney: Angus & Robertson, 1973. xii, 209 pages, two maps, illustrated with photos and with photographs and drawings of the period, bibliography, index. Maroon in jacket. Jack with several small chips and very short tears, rubbed at folds. Light foxing to page edges. Gold was discovered in 1867 at the spot on the Mary River where Gympie now stands and for the next 50 years it was the town's main source of income. The book gives the history of that period, including the dramatic events such as the Escort Murder, hold-ups by bushrangers, and battles between prospectors.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo.
