Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1922. Hardcover. Fair/Poor. xi, 260 p. 23 cm. Frontispiece and numerous other b&w illustrations, usually 4 or 5 to a plate. Red cloth spine over cardboard. Covers are much stained, edges worn, tears in spine ends. Stains to endpapers and some foxing. Dampstains throughout. Plates yellowed on both sides. Inscribed by author on front free endpaper in 1922. Remains of dustjacket are slipped in at rear (in three pieces, very much stained with torn edges). Also tucked in at rear is a newslipping, cut in two, featuring a poem called The Fisherman by Phil H. Moore.Tucked inside is a stained paper "With the Compliments of the Author" and a photo of the author with a chipped corner that has amusing pencil inscription on rear: "This is a horrible example of a toad after eating a hearty meal. After seeing this picture of myself taken while conducting a fishing party around Lake Rossignol last spring I decided that it was time to reduce. I have taken off 25 lbs. since and look like a human being again. Phil." Rear chaper called "Letter from Jo Kose - Guide. Or, How a Nova Scotia Woodsman Assisted the Movie Actors." Interesting doggerel verse by Jo Kose about prunes is tucked in next to it.
