Delanco, NJ: The Notable Trials Library, 2004. Hardcover. Fine/No Jacket. This is a special edition of the original, circa 1955, privately printed for the members of The Notable Trials Library. Peck wrote "The Greer Case" about a 1946 case of deceased Mabel Seymour Greer, in which he himself was involved as a judge. Mrs. Greer admitted before her death to have given a son up for adoption after birth, but the entire substantial fortune of this otherwise childless woman was bequeathed to Harvard University. An alleged son contested the will. The book became a bestseller. (Wikipedia) Hardcover. Dark blue cloth binding with gilt decorative the cover. Quarter bound in genuine blue leather. Spine has raised bands, adorned with gilt lettering and decorative design. Minor scuff on back cover bottom edge. Endpapers are a specially commissioned, marbled design of Jeanette Smith (blue, red and off-white color themes). The text paper was specifically made for this edition by the P. H. Glatfelter Company. All gilded edges. Several black and white photo illustrations throughout. Pages are in pristine condition with no creasing, marginalia or environmental markings of any kind. Navy blue silk ribbon bookmark. Original letter to Notable Trials Library charter member laid in. [xi] 209 pp. Special notation page dedicated to special edition on last page. An great copy.
