Hardcover. 15 stories by famous German writers such as Goethe, Heine, Hauptmann, Schnitzler, Brothers Grimm, Mann, Stefan Zweig and Arnold Zweig are offered in a Modern Library edition. Edited, and with introduction by Bennett Cerf. This collection was later followed by a Revised Edition, edited by Victor Lange. In blue variant jacket. --- In Toledano spine 8 / blue cloth / gilt titling on red spine & cover blocks / red topstain / grey Kent endpapers / jacket style i, verso lists 334 titles in ML catalog. Likely published c.1948 (though 1933 date appears in book). ML #108.2. --- A well-preserved copy with just a bit of chafing to lower cover edge, otherwise unmarked, tightly-bound and clean. Fair-only, unclipped dust jacket with brown soiling to most of front panel (looks like something was spilled) and with chips and minor chafing to extremities; otherwise intact and protected in removable mylar wrapper.; 12mo (7 to 7-1/2 in. tall); ix, 475 pages .
