This copy is SIGNED by the author inside the front wrapper. Tracy Expresses operated in the Western U.S. in the 1850-60s, and they were comparable to the Pony Express. Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1938. SCARCE -SIGNED AND INSCRIBED BY AUTHOR to W.A Ferguson, inscription dated May 19, 1939 - " for Ferguson and his Panaca CCC outfit, S.C.S.- Nev.-3, with great respect. Russ Lord". The Civilian Conservation Corp was established by Congress March 31, 1933 as part of Pres. Franklin Delano Roosevelt's New Deal, as a way to provide jobs for young, unemployed men during the Great Depression. The Panaca, Nevada "outfit" built the water tower at Cathedral Gorge State park among other projects in the area. Near Fine, top edge a bit dusty, in a Very Good dust jacket, old tape mends, spine faded. Introduction by William Allen White, 310 pp. including bibliography, illustrated with more than 30 black and white photos, mostly credited to named individuals who were part of the SCS (Soil Conservation Service) . Sent to Mrs. Wesley Popkins, Halstead, Kansas, from Sada ?, concerning an upcoming visit. Very Good, with creases. New York photographer DeWitt C. Wheeler's works are found in the George Eastman Museum collection. . Postcard. Very Good. 3 1/4" x 5 1/2".

Newton, Kansas: H. S. Dickey's Post Office, News, Store, 1910. Two real photo postcards mailed to members of the Popkins family of Halstead, Kans., dated Oct. 3 and Nov. 15, 1910. The Ringling Circus Parade card features at least 1 dozen elephants., is Very Good, bottom corner crease. The other card, View of Newton Kans., Looking South on Main St., Pub. by H.S. Dickey's Post Office News Store, also Very Good, a few small rubs at bottom edge. . Postcard. Very Good. 3 1/2 x 5 1/2".

Burlington, Iowa: City of Burlington, 1901. One Page,Folded, 8" x 5 3/8", printed one side "Contagious Diseases - Certificate for Re-Admittance, Burlington, Iowa 188....", that side left blank. Verso in manuscript black ink- " Burlington, Ia. Sept. 20. '01 This will certify that I have this day vaccinated Horace W(?) Arnold W(?) Arthur W(?) Anna W(?) C. E. Barnes". In different ink follows "Good". Very Good, 4 small holes, small ink blot. . One Page,Folded. Very Good. 8" x 5 3/8".
