New York: The Heritage Press, 1950. Hardcover. Near Fine. 4to 11" - 13" tall. Edmund Dulac. Fine condition copy of a beloved children's classic, The Golden Cockerel, from the tale by Alexander Pushkin (1799-1837) and illustrated beautifully by Edmund Dulac (1882-1953). The "Tale of the Golden Cockerel" was written as a short poem in 1814 and then was reworked into a story. Bound handsomely in the publisher's original Royal blue cloth, decorated in gilt to front cover and lettered to spine. Only the mildest of rubbing to extremities, virtually gift-quality condition. Housed in a battered, edge-split gold paper-covered slipcase but that has done its job. 42 pp.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.
