Hodder & Stoughton. Near Fine in Very Good dust jacket. 1942. First Edition; First Printing. Hardcover. Near fine book, small mark on spine over Mildred name. In fine condition internally, no marks, foxing or any noticable issues. 52 photograph plates & a folding map. VG or better DJ, un-price clipped (21/-) . Much better than normal condition, some chipping to the top and bottom of the spine. Small hole just below title on spine. Jacket now with Brodart Cover. Description on back of jacket: "After living for more than twenty years in the province of Shansi in North China, I took the old trade route and with my companion Eva and Francesca French, trekked north-west past the Barrier of the Great Wall and into the country which lies beyond. For many years we travelled over the Desert of Gobi and among its oasis as itinerant missionaries, and we came to know the country and its people intimately" .
