New York, New York: Grosset & Dunlap, 1923. First Edition First Printing . Hardcover. VG-/VG-. Second & last book in this very short-lived (2-book) series for YA girls featuring Gloria Doane. Written by one of the Stratemeyer Syndicate's most prolific children's series writers (she also did the Bobbsey Twins), this one under her own name, it has 240 pages with glossy frontispiece, 3 internals, + 4 pages listing other children's series in rear. A First Edition, unknown printing, from 1923, this hardcover12mo has blue-gray cloth over boards stamped with lighter blue lettering & a cameo image to front, darker blue lettering to spine. Condition is VG- (minus): quite clean, but faded at lower spine with spots of fading all over spine. Binding strong & straight, hinges secure. Pages modestly tanned, heavier around edges, but completely unmarked save for small sticker with former owner's name glued to ffep. Title page has soil in center in an area where it looks like an old sticker was removed. Mild-moderate rubbing to extremities & a hint of corner bumping. The unclipped DJ (listing other children's titles on flaps, back cover, & verso) is VG-: exceptionally clean & bright & colorful, but heavily rubbed along flap edges with chipping at both ends of spine; nicely protected in new mylar cover Free!
