"Death is life, and life is death."

"The way of the occultist lies through a graded series of steps, a pathway of Initiations conferring successive expansions of consciousness and degrees of sacramental power; that of the mystic is often more individual in character, a " fight of the alone to the Alone," as Plotinus so beautifully expressed it. To the occultist, the exact observance of a form is of great importance, and through the use of ceremonial magic, he creates a vehicle through which the divine light may be drawn down."

"And the people learned to say of their dead: " He has gone to the Light."

"The principal center for the public work of these Mysteries was the great pyramid, called in ancient Egypt Khut, "The Light." It was built on the most exact astronomical and mathematical value-locations and provided a veritable key in stone to the enigmas of the universe."

"Each degree of the Mysteries was designed to reflect one or other of the great Initiations of the Lodge so that the initiates of this lower level might prepare themselves ultimately to enter the Path of Holiness and so strive after the fullness of union with Osiris, the Hidden Light."

This is a scarce edition; it is the only one I can trace in green, much less any other color currently offered. Although reprinted throughout history, this is the actual 1st edition 1st printing. Leadbeater delves into the esoteric aspects of Freemasonry. He explores the symbolism and spiritual teachings found within Masonic rituals and ceremonies. Leadbeater believed that Freemasonry, at its core, was a spiritual path that aimed to lead individuals toward self-realization and enlightenment.

Charles Webster Leadbeater (1854-1934) was a prominent figure in the history of the Theosophical Society and a prolific writer on esoteric and spiritual topics. While known for his works on Theosophy, Leadbeater also wrote extensively about Freemasonry.

Leadbeater was initiated into Freemasonry in 1886 in London, England. He quickly rose through the ranks and became a prominent Freemason, eventually serving as the Grand Chaplain of the United Grand Lodge of England. Leadbeater's involvement in Freemasonry coincided with his exploration of various esoteric and mystical traditions, and he incorporated these aspects into his understanding of Masonic symbolism and rituals.

Leadbeater also wrote about the history of Freemasonry and its connection to ancient mystery traditions. According to his writings, Freemasonry traces its origins back to ancient Egypt, where the secrets of the craft were handed down from the ancient priesthood. Leadbeater believed that Freemasonry preserved ancient wisdom and knowledge through its rituals and symbolism.

"During the mystical death of the body, the candidate passed through many strange experiences in the astral world and preached to ' the spirits in prison,' to those who had recently left the body in death and were still fettered by their passions and desires."

The overall condition of this book is very good for being nearly 100 years old. It does display some of the typical aging attributes associated with a book from the early portion of the 1900s. This includes some regular shelf wear and age to the covers and spine. The interior pages are naturally age-toned, and some contain a crease to the lower margin area. However, it is only aesthetic. For a book printed in the 1920s, it is very good with some typical aging and overall time.
