Hodder & Stoughton, 1899. Hardcover. Acceptable. 1899. Eleventh Editon. 422 pages. No dust jacket. Blue cloth with black lettering and gilt decoration. Contains black and white illustrated frontispiece. Pages are mildly tanned, with light foxing and noticeable marking to textblock edges, but text remains clear. Binding is firm. Moderate cracking to rear hinge. Previous owner's inscription to front free endpaper. Boards have heavy shelf-wear, with visible corner bumping and noticeable scuffing to edges. Spine is moderately tanned, with visible crushing and noticeable splitting to ends. Severe splitting along side of spine, with cloth peeling away. Visible brown marks overall, heaviest to rear board.
