Maroon cloth boards with gilt particulars to spine. Part One of Volume 60 of The Gentleman's Magazine.
This volume contains an illustrated view of Bunker Hill "as it appeared after being burnt by our [British] troops" during the Revolutionary War, as described in an accompanying letter by a British soldier. Also includes several fold-out illustrations, such as a view of the Ridge's Patent Drill and Hoe Plough and impressions of ancient feals.
Stab-in binding. Lacks Lake Superior map at page 197. Loss to page 315 with no loss of text, loss to page 460, closed tears to 539-579 with some loss of text on pages 545-548 and 577-579.
