London: Longmans, Green and Co., 1901. Leather. Very Good Indeed. 7.5" by 5". Various. A new impression of Stanley J Weyman's novel, 'A Gentleman of France' with illustrated frontispiece. In a prize Fazakerley binding for The Hulme Grammar School. With an illustrated frontispiece and vignette title page. Stanley J Weyman was an English novelist. He was sometimes referred to as the 'Prince of Romance' due to his many romantic novels. He found a great success in his historical romances set amid the turmoil of 16th and 17th century France. In a full morocco prize binding with gilt stamping to the board edges and to the spine. Externally, very smart with just some very minor rubbing to the head and tail of the joints. A few small marks to boards. Binder's stamp to rear pastedown indicates a Fazakerley binding intended as a prize from The Hulme Grammar School, first prize, Second Form, Latin, H J Needham. Signed by Charles Kelsey the form Master. Prize is dated 1902. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright with a few spots to the endpapers, otherwise clean throughout. Very Good Indeed
