Prepared as a commemoration of the centenary of settlement in Australia this documents the early days of Queensland, often using excerpts from primary sources such as explorers' journals and settlers' diaries. The book discusses explorers from as early as de Quiros, through to Leichhardt, Mitchell, Kennedy and Cunningham while settlers include Dr Ballow, Petrie, George and Patrick Leslie, Coxen and McConnell. Appendices include extracts from the journals of Cook, Flinders and Lockyer, government proclamations and accounts of the murder of Captain Logan. Fold-out maps B & W map illustration.
