One of thirty two crime novels from Wentworth to feature Miss Maud Silver, a retired governess and teacher turned professional private detective, who frequently assists Scotland Yard. Miss Silver is sometimes compared to Jane Marple, the elderly detective of Agatha Christie. The first edition of this work. Written by Patricia Wentworth, a crime writer, who wrote thirty-two novels in total. Some of her novels include 'Grey Mask', 'The Clock Strikes Twelve', and 'Miss Silver Comes to Stay'.Enclosed in the original bright dust wrapper. In the publisher's original cloth binding.
