About This Item
London : Herbert Jenkins, 1929. Cloth. Fine/Fine. 10.5" by 7". T.J. Rawlins. A acclaimed volume on game preserving by Lawrence Rawstorne, in the original, unclipped and scarce dustwrapper. Including fifteen colour plates by T.J. Rawlins, the work was originally published privately, gifted to acquaintances of the author, in 1837, but found significant popularity roughly a century later by a waning shooting community who found their way of life in decline along with the country estates in which they were often based. A nonetheless interesting document of a world of 'country gentlemen' now largely the reserve of history books and nostalgia. In cloth binding with gilt detailing and original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally very smart, there is some minor rubbing to the extremities only. The dustwrapper has some very minor chipping and light markings. Internally, the pages are firmly bound and are bright and clean throughout. Fine
