New York: Random House, 1965. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Inscribed by Westlake on the front endpaper. Very Good in an about Very Good jacket, unclipped ($3.95) lightly rubbed, some faint tidemarks on the spine and back panel. Quarter blue buckram with patterned blue paper on the boards, rubbed and faded at the edges and corners. Square and firmly bound with a red top stain, clean internally. Westlake's hardboiled crime novel about Charlie Poole's life on the run. In his inscription, Westlake questions the inscribee whether he would be interested in adapting the work for a dramatic reading or kabuki performance, neither of which came to pass.
