ABOUT THE AUTHOR: James E. Wallace is a native of Louisville, Kentucky, and was the Assistant Director of the Kentucky Historical Society. He graduated from Morehead State University in 1980 and received his Master of Arts degree in History from the University of Kentucky in 1993. He published several articles, including an entry in the Kentucky Encyclopedia. His interests were in Kentucky agricultural history and twentieth-century African American history.
ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER: Gene Burch lives in Frankfort, Kentucky's capital city, and has been an avid photographer for over 40 years. He produced a color calendar of Frankfort for 17 years and has published several coffee table books: A Walking Tour of Historic Frankfort; A Photographic Journey; Frankfort Cemetery, the Westminster Abbey of Kentucky; Frankfort, Yesterday and Today, and Frankfort and Beyond.
