First edition, inscribed by the author to Sacheverell and Georgia Sitwell; 8vo, (22.5 x 15 cm); 24 black-and-white photographic plates (including frontispiece), endpapers slightly browned, text clean and bright; publisher's smooth orange buckram, gilt lettering to spine, black topstain, slightly worn unclipped pictorial dustjacket, overall a very good copy; [x], 282pp.
Inscribed and dated by the author to his brother and sister-in-law in black ink to front free endpaper, 'For / dearest Sachie and Georgia / with love / from Osbert / July. 2. 1954'.

The Four Continents contains a series of essays by Sitwell on his travels post Second World War in America, Asia, Africa, and Europe. This volume has been profusely illustrated with black-and-white photographic plates of great historic and cultural sights from across these four continents.
