About This Item
London : The Villon Society, 1907-1914. Cloth. Very Good. 9" by 6". None. Two uncommon anthologies of poetry from the Sixteenth Century Renaissance Period and Seventeenth and Eighteenth Century 'Classic Period'. Translated and edited by John Payne, a poet in his own right, the volumes contain work by Marc de Papillon, Mathurin Regnier and Francois Maynard, as well as Pontus de Tyard, Pierre de Ronsard and Jacques Tahureau. Both volumes are part of a limited edition with an unspecified quantity printed; the earlier volume is number thirteen, whereas the latter is number twenty. In vellum binding with gilt detailing. Externally quite smart, ther are some markings to the boards on both volumes, as well as minor shelfwear. Internally, the pages are firmly bound, irregularly cut , are somewhat chipped and are generally bright and clean throughout. Very Good
