[8], vii-viii, [2], 1-373, [1] pp. Bound in red cloth with lettering and decorations in gold on the spine. Price of $5.95 on the front jacket flap. Illustrated with a map and eight plates of black and white photographs. Broadfoot 564; Dornbusch III, 2444; Nevins I, 45. Signed by the author on publisher's tipped in leaf (no stated limitation). A presentable copy of Swanberg's study of the beginnings of the American Civil War. Very Good with original owner's name and date to front endpaper few flecks of foxing to the foreedge and mild toning to the endpapers and pastedowns in a Very Good lightly edge-worn dust jacket with fading to the spine panel.
