A first edition copy. Murder in the Cathedral is a verse drama by T. S. Eliot that portrays the assassination of Archbishop Thomas Beckett in Canterbury Cathedral. George Hoellering made the drama into a black and white film which won the Grand Prix at the Venice Film Festival in 1951 and this volume celebrates the film and original verse. With six colour plates and forty eight pages of monochrome illustrations.Collated, complete. In the original unclipped dust wrapper. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, generally excellent with some light fading to the spines and boards. Previous owner inscription to the front free endpaper and paper to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages. In the original unclipped dust wrapper which is smart with some light creasing to the wraps and a small tear to the bottom of the front wrap.
