G. P. Putnam's Sons / The Knickerbocker Press, 1899. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. Signed. Signed on a 'with the compliments of' bookplate by author Ambrose Bierce. First edition, first state, with four pages of adverts following the text, beginning with "By Anna Fuller." Lacking the rare dust jacket. Beige cloth with titles and decoration in red, blue, black, and gilt. Cloth age-soiled, darkened to spine, with light rubbing to edges. Spine square. Binding sound. Textblock edges browned, the top a little dusty, with one tiny spot to fore-edge. Pages else clean, interior lightly toned to margins; text bright and unmarked.
Synopsis
A Moral Principle met a Material Interest on a bridge wide enough for but one.
