About This Item

London: L. Upcott Gill. Poor with No dust jacket as issued. 1887. Third Edition. Hardcover. "The previous editions of this book having met with a favourable reception, and being out of print, I have been induced to revise it. A considerable amount of new information has been added, as well as coloured illustrations of the principal varieties. The work being the result of the experience of a fancier who has studied domestic pigeons from his earliest years, the fancier as well as the naturalist, will find that it contains an exhaustive account of them." - Preface. Third Edition. xiii, 431, [13 ads] pp. Colour plates. Black and white sketches. Undated but appears to be circa 1887. Prior owner's name upon front free endpaper. Front hinge open. Binding opening at pages 2 and 321. Plate at page 331 loose but present. Somewhat above-average wear to original red cloth attractively decorated and lettered in partially rubbed gilt. Minimal markings. No dust jacket, presumably as issued. A worthy reference copy of this wonderful vintage reference.; Sm 8vo .
