A scarce fashionable society novel by Lady Charlotte Bury, the first Paris edition of this tale which follows the love lives of two sisters. The first Paris edition of this work, complete in one volume, as issued.A scarce work.This is Volume CCCXXII of Baudry's European Library series 'Collection of Ancient and Modern British Authors'. 'Family Records' is a silver-fork novel, following the lives of two upper-class sisters living in fashionable society in England. The novel is a romance drama, seeing the sisters entangled in love affairs, overseen by villainous characters.Also including two short stories, 'The Promise', and 'The Lovers'.Written by Lady Charlotte Bury, Lady-in-Waiting to Caroline of Brunswick, and is best remembered today for her 'Diary Illustrative of the Times of George IV', and for her 1828 novel titled 'Flirtation'.Bookplate of Guy de Vilmorin to the front paste down. In a quarter calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, generally smart, with light rubbing to the boards and spine. Minor bumping to the extremities. Spine is a little discoloured. Small chip to the tail of the front joint. A few minor marks to the boards and spine. Bookplate to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned with scattered spots. Tidemark to the fore edge of the pages, heavier to the first few pages. Very Good
