An uncommon first edition copy of this popular treatise on Arthur Young, an interesting look at France, and the lessons England can learn from their politics. The first edition of this uncommon work.A popular work, going through three editions in 1793 alone.'The Example of France' offers Arthur Young's warning to the English, looking at the modern state of France and how it changed after the Revolution, advising the English public to be wary of starting their own reactionary rebellion.Young wrote this work as an opposition to Charles Grey's 1793 reform motion.Bound without the half-title, and publisher's adverts. In a quarter calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, generally smart. Boards are rubbed and a little discoloured, with a few light marks. Minor bumping to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very lightly age-toned and generally clean with some scattered spots. Small chip to the head of page 13/14, with no loss of text. Very Good
