Peter Lowe, 1981. 1st UK edition. Hard covers, dust jacket. V.g./V.g.. A very articulate and accessible introduction to palaeobotany, with eight double-spread colour paintings by the accomplished illustrator of geological landscape reconstructions, Tony Swift. The later parts of the book are illustrated by photographs of 'living fossils' like Welwitschia and Ephedra. The author is a former Keeper of Botany at the National Museum of Wales, and a former lecturer at Goldsmiths' College, University of London.
