About This Item
London: J. Mawman, 1808. Hardback. Very Good Indeed. 7.5" by 4.5". Not Stated. A scarce work by William Frend on the astronomical observations for the year 1808, with illustrations throughout. 'Evening Amusements' is an interesting observation on the astronomical circumstances in 1808. Written by William Frend, a clergyman and social reformer. Frend was amidst some conservatory after publishing the pamphlet 'Peace and Union recommended to the Associated Bodies of Republicans and Anti-republicans', which condemns the Church of England. Some of his other works include 'An Address to the Inhabitants of Cambridge and its Neighbourhood', 'Principles of Algebra', and 'Principles of Taxation'. With six plates. Collated, complete. In the original paper covered binding. Externally, smart. Minor shelfwear and marking to the boards. A little discolouration to the spine. Rubbing to the spine has caused just a little loss to the spine label. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright with just a light touch of age-toning, and clean with the very odd spot. Some pages remain uncut to the fore edge. Very Good Indeed
