A clean copy with slight bowing to boards, fading to some edges and a few 'bleached' spots, mostly to lower board. Offsetting to endpapers, spotting to page edges and a couple of pages but contents o/w clean without bookplates, inscriptions or other markings. 118 pp. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. In two parts. In 'The Theory of Family Endowment' Rathbone addresses the economic and ethical cases with questions such as: How far do actual wages meet the needs of existent families?. In 'The Practice of Family Endowment' she examines existing schemes in this country and abroad, and looks at the future of family endowment in this country with reference to the teaching profession, the ministry of religion, the mining industry and agriculture. Rathbone also offers alternatives to the equalization fun such as family income insurance and national family endowment, and talks about the effect of endowment on wages, prices and population. Scarce title.
