London, Printed for T. Cadell, in the Strand, M.DCC.LXXXIX. , [1789]. 1789 [2], xiii, [1], 303, [1] p. First edition. 8vo with horizontal chain lines. Contemporary sprinkled calf, rebacked and corners repaired. The spine with gold lines and blind tooling. Original endpapers preserved. Light toning of the endpapers and adjacent leaves and pp10-11 marked by something used as a bookmark? at one time. Generally a clean, crisp copy. Armorial bookplate on the front pastedown and a presentation inscription from the translator? to John Manley Esq on the initial blank. An anonymous translation of Essai sur la chasse au fusil, 1781. There was also a Dublin edition printed in 1789 and a second London edition in 1791. ESTC T60609 with copies in Birmingham, Cambridge and British Library, and 6 copies in USA.
