Main text-block is clean, unmarked and quite firm, though some gatherings incipiently opening, covers dull and a tad soiled in places, with grey paper begninning to lift from boards ina few places, edges relatively good for age, label missing from spine whichis very dull - text-block rating VG- for age, covers Fair+ only, their main merit being that they are quite secure and end-gutters both sound. xxiii+166+(2, pub,'s medical list), no illustrations, an 1852 gift inscription verso t.p., 3 very faint lines of pencilled note to rear end-paper which are virtually illegible. Preface states that the 1822 German edition was in pamphlet form and that Rigby, who had visited Naegele at University of Heidelberg, had used author's manuscripts as well in writing this translation, so it is in a sense a 'First thus' edition.
