The doc- umentary narrative of his sojourn to Saigon, with a descri- ption of both the war torn city and of the French colony. The main thrust of the work is the elaborate description of Cambodia's magnificient ruins of Angkor. Essentially, the work is about Angkor and the way hither. The second part is concerned with the spirit of new and old China and speci- fically with Peking. Filled with the details of close obser- vations, in terms of both people and monuments. Book One concerns Saigon, the Great Exhibition of the West, Pnom Penh, life among the ruins. Book II is titled Prospects of Peking. Sights and sounds of the Peking day, the wealth of yesteryear, the Forbidden City, Phoenix Tree, Ancestral Hall of the Exalted Brave and Loyal. A highly readable work quite fascinating.
