New York: Modern Library Although undated, this Modern Library edition of Hecht's novel is most likely from the 1930s, based on the flexible covers and the Rockwell Kent-designed endpapers and Modern Library logo in gilt on the front panel of the Torchbearer. The spine titles, also in gilt, are lightly faded. The book is bound in red cloth, with top-edge red stain. The book is clean and bright, with no marks, stains, tears, or signatures of former owners. The book measures 4 1/2 by 6 3/4 inches with 409 pages, plus ads in the rear. It is Number 29 in the Modern Library catalogue.. Hard Cover. Very Good+/No Dust Jacket. 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall.
