New York: The Modern Library, 1939. Hardcover. Very Good. xviii, 332 pages; 18 cm. Green cloth with gilt-on-dark-green spine and cover titles. Blind-stamped Kent torchbearer above spine title; gilt Kent torchbearer below cover title. Top page edges green. Grey and white endpapers with Kent torchbearer. No dust jacket. Introduction copyrighted by Modern Library in 1934. This binding style was used by Modern Library from 1939 through 1962. Bookplate on front free endpaper of former owner: Paul D. Guth. The Enormous Room, the first published work by E. E. Cummings (1894-1962), is an autobiographical novel about his experience as an imprisoned ambulance driver during World War One. In Very Good Condition: 2-cm. scrape along fore-edge of back cover; spine is sunned; corners at head of spine rubbed; pages are clean and tight.
