New York: D. Appleton, 1929. Hall, who also wrote as Upton Close, profiles Sun Yat-Sen, Yamagat and Ito, Mustapha Kemal, Josef Stalin, and Mahatma Gandhi, 511 pages. Black boards with gold paste-on titles to the front and spine. Lightly bumped and rubbed, hinges a bit loose. Mapped end papers. Signed on the front end paper, half-title page, and verso of the frontispiece by the previous owner, noted author and professor at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota O.E. Rolvaag. Also signed by his daughter, Ella Valborg, on the half-title page, dated July 7, 1968. Inscribed on the author's bookplate "To O.A. Rolvaag (sic) a loveable man in memory of a pleasant chat and in return for a prized book. "Upton Close" Josef Washington Hall". Inscribed By the Author. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. Illus. by Nobles, Orre.
