About This Item

London England: Concrete Publications Ltd, 1950. Hardback. Underlining in pen and pencil and notes to some pages. Wear to edges and corners of cloth. Small closed tear to top edge of spine of cloth. Slight marks to cloth. Blue cloth with gilt lettering. Preface to Third Edition - Since the second edition of this book was published higher concrete stresses have been widely adopted. Those in current use for highway bridge design are given in Memorandum No. 577 of the Ministry of Transport (Memorandum on Bridge Design and Construction), published by His Majesty's Stationery Office, and are broadly in line with the recommendations of the Code of Practice for the Use of Reinforced Concrete in Buildings issued by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research in 1934. It has not been though necessary to re-write the book to conform to the new stresses; method of design is independent of arithmetic, and as the methods remain unchanged the student will find no difficulty in working out the examples to other stresses. A small addition has been made to the section dealing with reinforcement to bring this up to date. In view of the progress which has been made in prestressed concrete the student should now now be left without some knowledge of the underlying principles, and a short chapter has been added to supply this want. 151 pp. ( We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions etc.) . 3rd Edition. Cloth. Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Hadrback.
