About This Item
New York: The W. J. Johnston Co.. Very Good with no dust jacket. 1896. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good in None jacket A clean, tight copy of the first edition of this book, with a sound binding and a pristine interior. There is a little light wear to the binding, but for a book of its age, it's quite good. It is unclear to me exactly what the therapeutics referred to in the title are, but I found references to cautery with electric knives, and to electrolysis. (I don't think shock therapy had been invented yet. ) The book gives clear descriptions of the basics of electricity, and I'm sure a close reading would turn up more ideas about how this primal force could be used for medical purposes. As is invariably the case with 19th century books, the illustrations are wonderful. .
