Small Elephant Folio. xxiv, 327pp., 13 plates, xxii, 388pp., 16 plates, and two frontispieces. Original brown pebbled cloth with gilt and black stamped illustrations and lettering on covers and spine, blind-stamped decor and ruling on back cover. Gilt edges. White silk moire endpapers. Frontispiece engraving in both volumes, with tissue guards. Title pages printed in red and black. Decorative head-, endpieces and initials. Both volumes with list of artists employed for this work. Comprehensive history of Egypt, beautifully illustrated more than fifty full page engravings and in-text illustrations throughout. Both volumes with list of artists and illustrations. Some light wear along edges of bindings and minor blemishes in blocks.
