Edward Lear's ABC by Edward Lear - 1913

Orange cloth spine with ilustrated yellow papered boards.Front board lettered in red and black with line illustrations.Unpaginated, Title page and preface followed by the ABC with one page for each letter of the alphabet, with the letter given in uper and lower case and an object drawn by Lear, and short verse.7.75 X 10.25 inches. The preface explains how the work was first done by Lear for a child friend in 1857, and has not been hitherto published.Th ebook is rubbed all arund on the edges and corners, the cloth spine is also rubbed and worn at the top and bottom, also wearing through a little on the back edge at a couple of places. Inside all complete, one 4 page gathering is present but loose apparently never having been sewed into the binding. Binding starting to open up a bit at one point,binding basically sound.The lower edge of the boards have received a knock causing a dent and edge split to the rear board. A fair copy of what appears to be quite a rare Edward Lear title.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket.
