Authors include Thomas Wolfe, F Scott Fitzgerald, John Galsworthy; Erskine Caldwell; Leon Trotsky; Ernest Hemingway; Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings; Nancy Hale; Sherwood Anderson. Dates of letters from 1914 through 1947. As a senior editor at the Scribner's and Sons publishing house, Perkins shepherded authors and their projects through to the final published books; no small effort with some who needed time management skills to reach their writing goals. Based in New York, Maxwell Perkins's family of daughters spent most of their warm-weather months in Windsor VT, and he rode the trains weekly to be with them. Windsor artists, sculptors, authors and writers were among the productive Cornish Art Colony members.
