Sable-Sur-Sarthe / Lophem-Lez-Bruges: Abbaye St-Pierre De Solesmes / Abbaye De Saint-Andre, 1926 Writing And Illumination Of Manuscripts From The 9th To The 12th Century - History And Technique. Overall in Very Good Condition, with the paper wrap around for the ten portfolios in poor condition. Complete with 14 black & white illustrations and 88 gilt highlighted chromolithograph plates, as called for. The First Volume: 83pp, [1], with 14 b/w plates, and 8 gilt highlighted chromolithograph plates, some pages uncut, binding and hinges tight. The Second Volume is unbound, as issued, and contains 10 portfolios, each containing, several leaves of text, along with gilt highlighted chromolithograph plates numbered IX to LXXXVIII - bringing the total number of color plates to eighty-eight. The paper cover that wraps around the portfolios shows edge chips and the spine covering is detached. The plate colours are still bright. NO LABELS, INSCRIPTIONS, NOR MARKINGS. Text is in French.
